    Werner Sarvari

    MD & Professional Valuer at Abakon Property Valuations

    Werner Sarvari is a Professional Valuer in private practice. He joined the profession in 1983 as a Learner Valuer in Kempton Park. During his long career as a valuer, he headed up the valuations team of FNB in the Western Cape, was regional manager of Bankkorp Property Services (Valuations), national head of valuations for Boland PKS in the Western Cape, headed up the national valuations team of Absa Bank, and was the Director of Valuations for the City of Johannesburg, responsible for the first General Valuation roll under the new MPRA.

    He was part of the task team that investigated and reported on the establishment of the Office of the Valuer General, as well as a task team that audited numerous general valuation rolls on behalf of COGTA to establish its accuracy, uniformity, equitability, and completeness.

    Werner spent time in Sydney and Brisbane during this project to compare processes and learn from international best practices. He also spent time in Canada on four occasions to learn more about municipal valuations and property tax.

    He has been appointed twice as a member of the Ekurhuleni Valuation Appeal Board and regularly represents his clients at the Tshwane Valuation Appeal Board.

    Training is a great passion of his and he has spent time at many SACPVP work schools teaching mostly about the Time Value of Money. He still lectures at Wits on various topics.

    Werner has been married for 38 years, has 3 children, and 5 grandchildren.

    Werner served on the SACPVP Exec board for 2 terms and has also previously served as an executive of the SAIV Northern Branch.

    Werner is the Managing Director of Abakon Property Valuations.
