Peet Meyer studied at the University of Pretoria and began his career in 1990 with Anglo American Corporation as a coal exploration geologist. In 1995, he started consulting on exploration drilling and project management.
In 2000, he joined Total Coal as an operations geologist and learned about coal mining, particularly thin seam coal mining. During this time, he completed a M.Sc in Earth Science Practice and Management, specializing in the economics of thin seam coal mining.
In 2005, he joined BHP Billiton as Chief Geologist at Optimum Coal. He gained exposure to opencast mining and realized that larger is not always better.
He started working with junior exploration companies in 2006 when he joined Aquila Resources as Exploration Manager for their coal properties in Mozambique and Botswana and iron ore in the Northern Cape.
In 2007 he formed his own company to consult and contract on coal exploration and mining studies for companies in Mozambique, Botswana and South Africa. Since then, he worked in nearly all Southern Africa’s coalfields, focusing on coking coal exploration.
He currently consults on mining and exploration with an emphasis on mine development, valuation, and production. He has written 130 Competent Persons Reports and several SAMVAL valuation reports.
PC Meyer is a member of the South African Geological Society and a SACNASP registered competent person.

Practiced as an attorney with HSG Attorneys Inc. for just under 10 years. My main focus during my time at HSG was project based legal advisory services to organs of state for public service infrustructure projects.

Msunduzi Municipality:I was the key Legal Resource in a land legal consulting JV with GeoAfrica Surveys where we resolved a multitude of land tenure issues for an area based project in Edendale, Pietermaritzburg. We assisted the Municipality with legislative review and research to resolve land related and human settlements issues that plagued the area. Upgrading of informal land right to full title, rectifying GP and cadastract conflicts, land audits, policy drafting and land acquisition for PSI development.

SANRAL - Land Acquisition and Property Management: During my time at HSG, I was the dedicated legal resource in a joint venture that provides land acquisition and associated services to SANRAL. The services included tailored advisory services to SANRAL's land acquisition activities for road construction across South Africa. The JV guided and advised the process from identification, valuation, negotiation with organs of state and holders of informal land rights as well as managing the conveyancing process.

Johann completed his BSc (Agric) Plant Production Degree at the University of Pretoria in 2006. In 2007 he continued with a postgraduate MSc (Agric) Plant Production, specializing in mine soil rehabilitation, specifically evaluating the adaptability of different pasture species on rehabilitated coal mines on the Eastern Highveld.
In 2008 he pursued his career with Monsanto South Africa as a Parent Seed production Manager. He then moved over to the sales team in 2011, representing the team in the Heidelberg area. In 2012 he took on a Sales Manager, and as Regional Manager managed various areas including Mpumalanga, Kwazulu Natal, the Northern Cape and Limpopo.
In 2016 he joined Selected Seeds South Africa as General Manager, an Australian based pasture seed company, and now manages the Southern Africa region, which include South Africa, as well as all neighbouring countries.
His main responsibilities include optimizing grazing systems, pasture management, fodder flow planning, agronomy, and a lot more.
